    BASIC REQUIREMENT: All applicants must meet the Basic Requirement via one of the two ways detailed below.

    Education for a Mathematical Statistician:
    Applicants must have a degree that included that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics. MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS

    : You must possess a combination of education and experience, as shown in (A) above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience offered in combination with educational courses to meet the requirements should include evidence of statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying known statistical techniques to data such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance. MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS

    Specialized Experience: defined as experience related to the work that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To qualify for a GS-15, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-14 level. Such experience would include guiding an organization responsible for information technology infrastructure research, design, implementation and maintenance, providing program management and tactical planning; interdisciplinary collaborations with industry, academia, and guiding multiple government agencies to develop and implement information technology standards and best practices; and development and maintenance of secure information and operations systems.

    Note: There is no education substitute for Specialized Experience. Time in grade: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.     • Ability to develop plans and procedures which are used in the analysis of alternative statistical and/or data collection methodologies.
    • Ability to prepare and present mathematical and statistical recommendations to a variety of internal and external audiences.
