This position is located in Security and Intelligent Documents (SID), Office of the Operations Manager, Washington, DC. SID is a secure manufacturing facility, where as a recognized technical authority, the employee of the position ensures that manufactured passports and secure credentials comply with established quality standards outlined in the agreements between the GPO and other federal agencies including the Department of State and Department of Homeland Security. The impact of U.S. Passport manufacturing and other Secure Credential work affects GPO's ability to fulfill the needs of the Department of State, Department of Homeland Security and, in a broader sense, the U.S. national security.
The selectee will work shift 1 and a tour of duty from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Applicants must possess 52 weeks of specialized experience at the PG-11 (or equivalent) grade level.Specialized experience includes having a thorough knowledge of ISO 9000/ISO 9001 principles to conduct audit processes and develop process work instructions. Applicant must also have experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to validate operational procedures and processes for adequacy and compliance; and conduct statistical analyses of testing and inspection methods to determine discrepancies.
To qualify for the Quality Control Officer (Passport), PG-1910-13, you must meet the following requirements:
Applicants must possess 52 weeks of specialized experience at the PG-12 (or equivalent) grade level. Specialized experience includes developing and implementing quality assurance strategies, requirements, and processes using ISO 9000/ISO 9001 principles; and leading and coordinating audit functions for projects/programs. Applicant must also have experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to validate operational procedures and processes for adequacy and compliance; and conduct statistical analyses of testing and inspection methods to determine discrepancies.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully completed a background investigation for a Secret Clearance. This review could include financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs. Depending on the type of background investigation required, the security process may take between 6 weeks to 12 months.
