JOB SUMMARY:

This position is within the staff of the Director (D) in the Design and Installation Division (DID), Silkscreen Shop (DID-SS), of the National Gallery of Art (NGA). The incumbent works under the direction of the Chief of Design, and is responsible for the design, layout, coordination and production of all exhibition and building graphics for both permanent and temporary exhibitions, including interior and exterior signage, and the Sculpture Garden.

    Physical Requirements: The incumbent must execute and oversee all phases of graphic design and production for each exhibition and therfore, a significant amount of walking and standing for prolonged periods of time are required. S/he must be able to work from ladders and scaffolding. On occasion, the incumbent and other members of the shop work with and solvents for graphic production.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector.

    Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-1010-13. This requires at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility to the federal GS-12 level, designing graphic elements for museum exhibitions. The incumbent must be proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite for the Macintosh environment.
