Summary
The MIL Corporation seeks a Jr. Network Engineer to provide hands-on technical support for the global network infrastructure of a Federal Government client at our Washington, DC 20005 location. The Jr. Network Engineer is tasked with implementing change requests as directed by Sr. Network Engineers, troubleshooting and resolving problems, maintaining and upgrading network equipment as needed, and responding to SolarWinds alerts and ServiceNow tickets in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
• Deploy and maintain our client's global network backbone
• Support our client in resolving complex network issues
• Proactively identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues on customer's network, with the goal of continuous improvement of service delivery
• Document issues and resolution for future reference in the Knowledge Base

Required Qualifications
• 2 to 3 years of Network Engineer experience
• Excellent hands-on experience with the following networking infrastructure:
o Enterprise class Cisco routers, switches and firewalls
o Internet and Wide Area Networks
o Network systems management and monitoring tools
• Team player with positive mental attitude
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Very good interpersonal skills when interacting with customers
• An aptitude for learning new skills and procedures and applying them in a production environment
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends for troubleshooting and any other special circumstances
• Ability for occasional travel
• Some prior exposure to the setup and maintenance of VPN tunnels, vLan configurations, IPv4 sub-netting, and network security (Cisco ASA Firewalls, ACLs, IPsec, and other encryption methodologies), and have a baseline understanding of EIGRP, RSTP, and static routing

Technical Skills
• A creative problem solver with experience in identifying routing and switching issues involving a mix of Cisco and Dell managed devices
• Advanced troubleshooting skills, including the ability to capture and analyze packet level data (i.e. Wireshark PCAPS), and must be an expert with network monitoring tools such as the latest version of SolarWinds Orion NPM, APM, NCM and Netflow
• Detail-oriented technical skills and strong analytical skills (including log analysis)
• Flexibility and the ability to think creatively while meeting/using industry best practices
• An avid learner that is willing to accept guidance and instruction from Sr. Administrators in order to strengthen the support team and grow as an engineer
