At DanoneWave and Danone North America companies, everyone can express their true selves, their individuality is celebrated and they can be confident that their views and actions matter.We're re-imagining and redefining what a food company is - this Revolution starts with all of us!Reporting to the VP NORAM Public Affairs, this position has a fundamental role in helping strategically shape, promote and defend Danone Companies' interests in the US with policy related external stakeholders (eg Members of Congress, Members of the Federal Executive Branch, industry trade associations and organizations) who may positively or negatively impact the Companies' businesses and their license to operate in the fields of Nutrition, Food Safety, Food Production Environmental impacts, national or industry certifications and other subjects as necessary.Position Dimension / businesses covered: All government relations activities focused on Nutrition, Food Safety, Food Production Environmental impacts, and national or industry certifications in the US or other subjects as necessary for DanoneWave, Danone Waters of America, Danone Advanced Medical Nutrition, Danone Early Life NutritionThe above are referred to as "Danone NA companies" below.Roles, Responsibilities, Deliverables:Focused solely on the fields of nutrition, food safety, food production environmental impacts, national or industry certifications or other subjectsas necessary, this position handles the following:Monitor and influence the external landscape to anticipate and handle external emerging subjects that may either present an opportunity or a risk for Danone NA companies at the Federal level.Identify, develop and manage a network of key stakeholders in the field including but not limited to lawmakers/members of Congress, membersof the federal executive branch and administrations/government agencies, trade associations and non-governmental organizations.Build and maintain a stakeholder mapping and engagement strategy (with appropriate messaging to each target). Ensure that Danone NA's business interests and positions are expressed and included in the decision making of all appropriate stakeholders.Proactively advance legislative, regulatory or other appropriate reforms to ensure that Danone NA's innovations and operational needs benefitfrom a favorable environment and are not hindered in any way.Propose and develop the legislative and regulatory strategies to ensure the business' objectives are enhanced, achieved andprotected.Lead the representation of Danone NA companies at trade associations meetings and other appropriate stakeholder meetings (eg policy forums, self-regulatory groups5).Develop and seek alignment within the organization to create/ensure "ONE DANONE VOICE" on positions to be taken by the business froman external perspective on relevant policy matters, including customer driven initiatives. Positions are developed and vetted in closecooperation with legal and regulatory, scientific affairs, communications, and research and development.Communicate with and train relevant internal stakeholders on emerging government / industry subjects and provide an on-going analysis of the potential opportunities or risks for the businesses.Supervise and manage the activities of the Manager Agriculture Government & Industry AffairsWhen appropriate manage activities of public affairs consultants and agencies.Main interactions:Direct Report:Manager of Agriculture Government and Industry AffairsInternal:VP NORAM Public Affairs,Manager State Government & Industry Affairs,Manager Agriculture Government & Industry Affairs,General Secretary teams (Legal, Regulatory, Scientific Affairs,Communications),General Managers and Leadership teams and other Danone Government Affairs Heads worldwide,Research &Development, Marketing, Sales, Strategic Resource Cycle (SRC) group, Industrial/Supply Chain.External:Lawmakers/Members of Congress,Members of the Federal Executive Branch,Trade Associations andNon-Governmental Organizations.Candidate Profile / Experience:Mandatory significant expertise in government affairs including holding position(s) in the Legislative or Executive branches, or at minimum strongpractice of interaction with members of Congress and the Federal GovernmentSuccessful experience of Public Affairs in a large food company and/or trade association in the food sector, including conventional, natural andorganic sectors is a plus.Skills:Strategic thinkerBusiness objectives focusAbility to develop networks, enroll and convince both externally and internallyStrong interest and sensitivity to political and economic mattersStrong communication and negotiations skillsCollaborative mindset and attitudeStrong leadership and interpersonal skills, able to resolve conflicts efficiently and calmlyDirect knowledge of legislative and executive branches advocacy process at Federal and State levelsKnowledge of food and related operations landscape and subjects.Attention to detailCapable to efficiently manage simultaneously multiple projects, involving numerous and diverse partners/stakeholders, with challenging timelines
