Performs one or more of the following tasks in support of computer database administration: administers computerized databases, installs the applicable databases onto the appropriate computer operating systems, creates databases, configure databases, use import utilities to install databases.

    Includes creation of Indexes, Clusters, Snapshots, Views, and other database objects, as well as, management of Rollback Segments, Data File Size, and all the other aspects related to the performance tuning of databases.Write code for update queries, update data dictionaries as new fields are added to the database, and maintain a data correction log.Create and maintain data correction logs that identify the date the correction that was performed, tables and fields effected, submission effected, error code effected, and other pertinent metadata.Prepares activity and progress reports regarding the database management section.Participates in the design, maintenance, enhancement, coding, and administration of relational databases.Analyzes and determines information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.Coordinates new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure.Performs monitoring activity, documenting problems, changes, and solutions.Stay current on vendors' best security practices in relation to organizational requirements.Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.Displays communication skills to effectively interface with military officials, managers, and subordinatesParticipates in special projects as required
Education Bachelors Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

 

MCITP Certification or VCP or equivalent preferred

ITIL v3 Certification preferred

DoDI 8570.01m Certification required

Qualifications
    8-10 years of related database analysis and/or administration experience.Strong analytical and problem solving skills, the ability to work independently, multi-task and maintain deadlines for development initiativesAdvanced knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in database development, coding, and design, including business analysis, event modeling, logical and physical database design, data access analysis and design, DBMS optimization, archive and recovery strategy, load strategy design and implementation, security, and change management.Experience with MS SQL Server including, MS SQL Server 2012, SQL Profiler, Performance tuning, management of SQL Server Disaster Recovery to meet defined business objectivesProvides administration, Implementation and management support of databases supporting high availability features including Clustering, Always On, Database Mirroring, and Replication in pre-production and production environments.Provides pro-active monitoring of databases from performance and capability management perspectives.Provides database maintenance activities such as backup/recovery, updates to service packs and patches, and optimization.
