The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for maintaining the design and integrity of customer data center networks worldwide, including hosted and cloud environments. This role will be responsible for designing, testing, implementing, and maintaining network and systems infrastructure.

The Senior Network Engineer will provide onsite and remote support to our customers who have critical response time requirements. They will work independently and as part of a team to urgently analyze technical issues, and address Tier 3/4 escalations. Engineers are expected to work directly with the project management staff on team related projects to ensure project requirements are met and on schedule. This role will successfully demonstrate the skills required to secure and manage network infrastructures to increase productivity, mitigate threats, reduce costs, and ensure network stability.

 

Responsible for the design and development of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks.

 1. Provides expert level analysis of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.

 2. Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments.

 3. Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.

 4. Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.

 5. May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users.

 6. May perform network administration duties.

 7. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel and may have supervisory responsibilities.

 8. Serves as technical team or task leader.

 9. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

 10. Participates in special projects as required.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Provide SME level technical guidance and support for the following areas:
      Network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and securityInternal systems, cloud and network infrastructureRemote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications
    Perform network assessments and provide quantitative/qualitative artifactsFollow all established Incident Management and Change Management procedures.Coordinate with internal/external facing customers, project stakeholders, and program management staff throughout the Incident and Change Management lifecycles.Provide mentoring and guidance for co-workers within your respective areas of expertise.
    Design and document network architecture proposals to include system level configuration elements and bill of material development.Participate in network capacity planning and provide recommendations based on growth expectations. Serves as technical team or task leader.Support rotating 24x7x365 on-call technical escalation scheduleSupport periodic after hours maintenance activities as required
Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

 

Qualifications 10-15 years of directly related experience in network analysis and design.

 

Current CCNP and/or JNCIP required

Security+

At least 2 years acting in a SME or leadership position

    Various IGP/EGP routing protocols to include OSPF and BGPL2/3 transport protocols such as MPLS, EVPN, VPLS, etc.L2 – L7 protocols such as Ethernet, IP, TCP, UDP, RTP, HTTP/S, FTP, SMB, etc. and the ability to analyze traffic flows of these protocols with packet analyzer utilities.Various L2 switching technologies/protocols to include STP/MSTP/RSTP, VXLAN, Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation, etc.Ability to independently learn new technologies and platforms in the course official job duties.Familiarity with network security technologies to include firewalls, VPN, and IPS.Familiarity with enterprise wireless architectures and administrationFamiliarity with enterprise wireless load balancing
