The job Work with the Public & Government Affairs (P&GA) leadership to organize and develop federal lobbying efforts, formulate public policy positions, prepare for-the-record comments to Congress and government agencies, and develop additional internal and external communications that accurately reflect SCAN's positions. You will Facilitate SCAN's legislative initiatives through multi-channel collaborations with consultants, lobbyists, trade associations, and coalitions. Lead certain internal public policy task forces, such as the telecommunications task force, that develop SCAN's public policy positions and legislative goals. Foster and develop positive working relationships with federal legislative staff that promote an ongoing dialogue specific to SCAN's public policy initiatives. Create and disseminate advocacy materials that successfully communicate SCAN's public policy positions. Develop, manage and promote external events that drive SCAN's legislative agenda and enhance SCAN's image. Collaborate with internal SCAN departments to develop materials specific to SCAN's services for the communities served. Partner with internal sources to update statistics regarding SCAN's beneficiaries so that lobbyists may present an accurate picture of SCAN to public officials. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; media representation; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Your qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience will be considered. 4-6 years legislative experience in government or healthcare in a public or government affairs role. Knowledge and understanding of the legislative process. Strong writing and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex concepts into clear messages. Ability to prioritize multiple and competing tasks, work independently and in a team environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Your preferred qualifications 2-4 years experience in healthcare or health plans and experience in lobbying or grassroots activities is preferred.
