Housing Business Process Assistant
The George Mason University Office of Housing and Residence Life (OHRL) invites applications for a part-time (24 hours/week 0.6 FTE) Housing Business Process Assistant (BPA) position. Responsibilities: The incumbent creates and updates integral business processes; instructs the OHRL staff on the application of these processes, as well as acting as the point of contact for OHRL staff who have questions regarding procedure and documentation for three key processes: P-Card compliance and documentation, Travel Authorization and Reimbursement, and Food and Beverage Requests. The BPA will also summarize data for the Daily Deposit Reconciliation (including ACH kick-outs which need further investigation by OHRL staff). The BPA reconciles all working papers and reporting in conjunction with these business processes; will be required to generate and supply reports for management, internal and external auditors, and other OHRL staff; and insure all processes are documented for OHRL staff review and use.
Required Qualifications: * Demonstrated full-time experience in business management, with a comprehensive understanding of accounting theory; * Demonstrated experience in defining, refining and educating OHRL staff to follow business processes in compliance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Accounts and George Mason University Fiscal Service policies; * Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel and Word, with the ability to retrieve data from multiple sources for analysis and presentation using Excel; * Strong skills in the independent investigation and evaluation of data, which will be used for financial operating reports and internal managerial accounting reports; * Strong collaborative and customer service skills, with an eagerness to work with and support colleagues in an open, information-sharing environment; * Excellent communication skills and patience to explain financial data and business processes to â€œnon-financialâ€ personnel; and * Associate degree in accounting, management, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education/training and demonstrated experience in the field.
Preferred Qualifications: * A bachelorâ€™s degree in accounting and/or management; * Demonstrated full-time experience in accounting and/or finance; * Qualifications stated above plus experience in university housing, housing management or a related field; and * Complete working knowledge of the Ellucian Banner financial system and the eVA (Virginia online procurement) system are strongly preferred.
