Position Overview
The Capital Markets team audits a variety of areas including; securities trading desks, treasury and debt functions, middle and back office functions, market risk management, counterparty and credit risk management, valuation of complex financial instruments, and hedge accounting. As an Audit Director for the Capital Markets audit team the individual will manage a team and be responsible for related multiple audit projects. Responsibilities include:
* oversee audit deliverables and projects to include audits, follow ups, and pre-implementation reviews
* collaborate with client on conclusions of on core audit issues and develop responsive action plans
* informed by respected business knowledge to reduce SSGM’s residual risk
* provide third line of defense perspective to key Capital Markets initiatives
* primary person responsible for overseeing the audit team, reviewing work papers, and communicating issues with the auditee
* administrative tasks, including resource allocation and scheduling, management and audit committee reporting, and assisting with the annual planning process
* coach and mentor audit staff and lead multiple project integrated teams
* lead internal investigations, follow-up on regulatory findings, and other divisional activities, as needed

Basic Requirements
* Typically has 15+ years of experience, including 10+ years of previous experience in public accounting, risk management or internal audit; other relevant experience may be considered
* Solid understanding of the financial services industry, including fixed income, market risk management and secondary mortgage markets
* Deep knowledge of and experience with Capital Markets specifically market risk management, liquidity and counterparty credit
* Experience conducting audits in some or all the following areas: Derivatives, Market Risk Management, Counterparty Credit, Front, Middle and Back Office Operations, and Valuations of financial products
* Demonstrated proficiency in audit methodology and risk/controls assessments
* Demonstrated critical thinking skill, ability to have a big picture view while able to dive into details to identify root cause
* Ability to recruit and motivate a diverse team. Commitment to continuous development and improvement of team
* Demonstrated ability to build professional relationship with clients and influence change
* Strong written and oral communication skillsCIA or CPA certification

Preferred Skills
* Advanced degree or CFA certification
* Previous Big 4 experience
