Maintains and administers network equipment such as switches, routers, cabling, access points, and bridges in an office environment and an evolving manufacturing facility.

Designs and implements new network systems as needed. Provides capacity planning to ensure future needs are met before issues arise.  

Monitors and maintains networking equipment to avoid user impact.

Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.

Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.

Audits network environment for potential security vulnerabilities. 

Performs required maintenance to mitigate vulnerabilities.

Provides advanced network troubleshooting support across all company routers, switches, firewalls, LAN/WAN, VPN concentrators, IPS/IDS, Wireless Networks, and other network-based security appliances/technologies.

Serves as the Host Based Security System (HBSS) administrator and subject matter expert (SME).

Corrects security vulnerabilities in assigned systems in response to problems identified by vulnerability scanners.

Develops requirements for the acquisition of network hardware, server, software, and services.

Maintains current network or system documentation and diagrams, necessary for IT compliance, adherence to best practices, and for support.

Assists in the design of complex network environments including IP address schemes, DNS, Vlans, Ether-Channel (Bonding), etc.

Manages 3rd party vendors and opens/escalates support tickets, as needed.  Ensures that vendors adhere to contracted SLA's.

Upgrades computer application system software, troubleshoot errors to maintain system after implementation and develop requirements for the acquisition of network hardware, software, and services.

Develops a plan to monitor system performance, and if necessary, configure software products to generate alerts/reports to system administrators to warn them of impending and/or current issues/problems.

Monitor backups, failover and disaster recovery implementations for servers and networking hardware

Administers IP Telephony/Phone system, Cisco UCS and supporting infrastructure

Monitors Data Center environmental systems such as humidity and temperature control, UPS Battery Systems and more.

Performs related duties and responsibilities as required such as provide off hour technical support either remotely or at the primary work site.

Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves UNIX/Window servers and other computer-related equipment problems to ensure functional operation.

Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications 5-8 years of directly related experience in network administration and support.

Cisco Certification is a plus.

Skill in providing advance support in architecting, configuring, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting distributed network switches, wireless access points/controllers, firewalls, VPN, VoIP, unified communications. 

Experience with working in Cisco IOS and in planning, deploying, and supporting Cisco Identity Services Engine. 

Experience with Windows 2012 R2 and providing advance network system administration/engineering support. 

Experience administering Host-Based Security Systems (HBSS) or McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) is plus.
