Job Description

 

The Senior Production Support Administrator (PSA) will work as part of an elite and agile team responsible for maintaining and improving system functionality through proactive interaction with the customer, comprehensive understanding of their primary GEOINT exploitation system, and knowledge of the production mission. The successful candidate will provide on-site, on the floor, technical and system administration support through troubleshooting, identifying and isolating issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing appropriate solutions to software anomalies as they occur. The PSA will actively trouble shoot Operating System (OS) and Geospatial software integration issues and make corrective recommendations. The SSA will demonstrate extensive knowledge of intelligence productions systems used by GEOINT analysts. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of GEOINT analyst's various software suites and functions to include but not limited to RemoteView, SocetGXP, SocetSet, Google Earth, Adobe, ArcGIS, ENVI, and Image Scout. Likewise the candidate should be able to quickly respond to application related issues, resolve on the spot problems (where possible), replicate the issue for internal analysis/diagnosis, and prepare technical documentation accurately depicting the problem and/or solution for feedback to developer/vendor.

 

The environment may call for periods of 24x7 support or on-call coverage

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities

 

The Production Support Administrator responsibilities will include:

 

  • Understand NCE-ActiveIT requirements.
  • Diagnose and rectify server issues escalated from server administrators.
  • Diagnose and rectify desktop issues escalated from desktop administrators.
  • Support for maintenance and change requests of all Production devices and systems.
  • Evaluate current Common Services equipment and perform trade studies for EOL products.
  • Assist in the development of ECP's and other tasking related to Desktop Services.
  • Manage integration proof of concept testing as required.
  • Assist team members by providing input, either written or verbal, to program deliverables including, but not limited to trade studies, white-papers, vendor presentations, and hardware and software requirements to support internal customers and "other" services.
  • Develop procedures and documentation for managing, deploying and implementing multiple baseline hardware/images and software packages.
  • Assist in the efforts for C&A activities and design updates.
  • Assist in the development of customer Detailed Design Documents, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and other documentation.
  • Provide input and briefings in support of Engineering Review Boards and Change Control Boards.
 

Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications 5-8 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.

 

Additional/Unique Requirements: 

  • Demonstrated experience with Geo-intelligence production applications as stated in the job responsibilities section.
  • Manage the functionality and efficiency of a virtual/physical desktop pool by proactively and reactively responding to Remedy based trouble/incident and change requests tickets
  • Sets up and administers service/user accounts using: Active Directory, User Group maintenance, Security and Configuration Management, User data restoration, Sever data restoration
  • Develops and maintains system/security documentation
  • Interacts with users in to support software and hardware transitions to include software installs hardware/software troubleshooting
  • Interacts with engineering teams to support software and hardware transitions to include software installs hardware/software troubleshooting
  • Maintain working knowledge of current VDI design to connect, configure, and/or enable information systems, devices, or components as assigned
  • Assist team members by providing input, either written or verbal, to program deliverables including, but not limited to trade studies, white-papers, vendor presentations, and hardware and software requirements to support internal customers and "other" services.
  • Provides support for maintenance and change requests of all "user facing" devices and systems.
  • A working knowledge of SCCM is expected and the candidate will be involved in large scale software, security patches and OS upgrade distributions.  A working knowledge of Microsoft System Internal is expected and the candidate will be involved in using Microsoft utilities in pursuit of root cause analysis, problem resolution and system monitoring

Desired Skills:

 

Knowledge of:

  •  Testing and troubleshooting management.
  • Software package/binary deployment (XenApp, ThinApp, AppV, SCCM).
  • ITIL v3 foundations and Remedy experience.
  • Thin Client operating systems and virtual hosted desktop OS (Windows 7, Win XPe, Windows Embedded 2009).
  • Client operating systems (XP, Windows 7).
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (ESX3.5i/vSphere4, XenDesktop).
  • Understanding of DISA STIG or other federal security guidelines.
