GDIT is currently recruiting for a Senior Systems Engineer in our West Des Moines, IA office. This candidate would join a dynamic application development team in building strategic data driven solutions that assist in meeting our customers’ needs.

 

As a Senior Systems Engineer for GDIT Health, you will be part of a team that is responsible for leading the implementation of Big Data technologies and development of a new national health data web service.

 

In addition, you will:

 

  • Design, code, test, debug, document, and implement data-driven solutions.
  • Leads project efforts, ensuring project requirements and timelines are met.
  • Performance tuning of different applications.
  • Work with different teams to design tech solution.
  • Drive the optimization, testing and tooling to improve data quality.
 

Education
  • Ideally, you will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
  • GDIT is seeking an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of software development experience.
  • Proficient with Java programming language.
  • Experiences with Big Data technologies including Hadoop, Impala, HBase, Hive, Spark, Oozie, Zookeeper, etc.
  • Experiences with developing and working with Web Services and supporting technologies (REST, SOAP, XML, JSON).
  • Experience in SQL programming.
  • Familiar with Linux commands and environment.
  • Proficient with 1 to 2 programming languages among Java/Python/Scala/Ruby/Golang/C++.
  • Hands-on experiences with data processing or analysis systems is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, a strong team player; able to accept and deliver ambiguous tasks.
  • Ability to contribute unsolicited ideas with the team for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced, fun environment.
  • Must be able to work closely with all project stakeholders.
  • Good organizational, analytic and interpersonal skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to learn and acquire new technologies as needed.
A strong candidate will also have:

 

  • Hands-on experiences with data processing or analysis systems is strongly preferred.
  • Experiences with Cloudera’s big data platform is preferred.
  • Experiences with AWS or other Cloud technology are strongly preferred.
  • Experience working on projects with stakeholders located in multiple locations.
  • Experience working with Health Data preferred.
