New graduates are required to be graduating with either a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN), or graduating with an Associate's Degree from Montgomery Community College with an overall GPA of 3.0.

This 24-bed unit provides women with care throughout labor and delivery from obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists and registered nurses certified in fetal monitoring. Care is provided in a private labor, delivery and recovery room (LDR) complete with television, private bathroom and sleeper sofa. Also within L&D is an eight bed Triage unit, six bed recovery room (PACU) and three operating rooms (ORs) equipped for cesarean sections and high risk births.
Using the Quality Caring Model, demonstrates acceptable performance and applies the nursing process to plan and manage the care of routine patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates fundamental patient/family information to health care team. Identifies and communicates variances from patient goals.

Minimum licensure/certification required (if applicable):
Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
Additional Life Support training as applicable to unit requirements.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
Demonstration of acceptable performance in administering medications according to Holy Cross Hospital's standards within the probationary period.
Basic computer skills to include data entry and retrieval.
Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends English language.
Must have visual and auditory acuity.
Must have the ability to coordinate eyes and hands quickly and accurately.
May be required to lift up to 50 pounds as determined by the nature of the nursing unit.
Must be able to push, pull and lift patients.
Must be able to push, pull, lift and move patient care equipment, i.e., beds/stretchers.
Must be able to bend body downward at the waist and be able to kneel.
Must be able to utilize a computer for periods of time throughout the shift, dependant upon the specific position.
Directly supervised by and accountable to the Director, Nurse Manager or Assistant Nurse Manager for work direction.
Assumes accountability and responsibility for the work direction of other Registered Nurses, Graduate Nurses, LPNs, Nursing Assistants, Health Unit Coordinators, and others as assigned.
