Operations Research Analyst, Mid

Key Role:

Provide modeling and simulation and operations research-type analytical support for DoD and government organizations. Apply operations research and statistical techniques across a wide range of problems, including acquisition, personnel, operations, and strategic planning. Define problems, build models or simulations, identify performance measures, and perform gap and root cause analysis in order to identify alternatives and recommendations to improve performance measures. Author detailed written documentation and deliver technical briefings to senior client leaders describing complex mathematical methods and their applications and results. Leverage strong analytical and technical expertise, including operations research, engineering, mathematics, statistics, business analysis, risk analysis, change management, and cost or benefit analysis.

Basic Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience with consultant, government staff, or industry staff

-3+ years of experience with employing analytical methods

-Experience with modeling software, including AnyLogic, ExtendSim, Arena, and Vensim

-Experience with statistical software at an advanced level, including Minitab, JMP, SAS, SPSS, iGrafx, and MATLAB

-Knowledge of operations research techniques, including optimization, stochastic and deterministic model building techniques, such as simulation methods, mathematical programming, applied probability, and statistical methods

-Ability to apply critical thinking to a wide variety of problems

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BS degree in Operations Research, Management Science, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with statistical analysis, including descriptive and inferential statistics, probability theory, predictive modeling, data sampling, and a variety of statistical tests and procedures

-Experience with mathematical modeling and simulation, including deterministic modeling, stochastic modeling, risk modeling, queuing theory, inventory management and control, forecasting, and optimization

-Experience with programming languages, including Python, Java, VBA, C++, and C#

-Experience with Lean Six Sigma, including statistics, statistical process control, capability analysis, quality engineering, QFD, Lean, Kaizen or rapid improvement events, DFSS, DMAIC, DFX, and design of experiments to enable effective analysis

-Experience with industrial or systems engineering methodologies and techniques, including process improvement, statistics, mathematics, and engineering

-Ability to use commercial tools in combination as appropriate to enable analysis, including ExtendSim for process models, Crystal Ball for financial analysis, and GAMS for mathematical programming

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-MS degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics
