Child Welfare and Justice Research Unit Leader
Westat has an immediate opening for a senior researcher and manager to provide leadership for our child welfare and justice research unit.
In addition to providing direction and scientific leadership to the unit of approximately 35 staff, major responsibilities include: shaping the content, methods, and approaches of the unit's portfolio; growing the unit; working collaboratively across Westat and beyond; and designing and directing complex, large-scale social science surveys, evaluations, or other programs as appropriate.
A Ph.D. in social sciences
15 years of post-doctoral research and management experience in child welfare or justice programs.
Candidates must have extensive experience developing and directing social science research in a consulting environment; a national reputation as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and presentations; a well-established professional network; a history of leading and collaborating on successful proposal efforts, and at least 5 years of experience managing senior staff. The ability to work in a team environment and excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
