Job Description Medical Assistant- Brandywine, MD Job Details Level Experienced Salary Range Undisclosed Job Location USA-MD-Brandywine Travel Percentage Up to 50% Position Type Full Time Job Shift Day Education Level High School Job Category Health Care Description Chesapeake Urology, the premier Urology practice in Maryland, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our office located in Brandywine, MD. The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing front office and back office clinical support, independently and with minimal supervision. Performs other diverse duties as requested or required under the general and direct supervision of the site manager. Administrative/Clerical To create a positive and professional first impression for the practice and to show the patients a we care attitude. Schedule appointments and assists with the scheduling of any additional testing directed by the physician. Ensure all required patient paperwork is compiled for that days appointments. Collect co-pays and past balances at time of check-in and enters into the batch for the day in Practice Management. Reviews for completeness and accuracy and then enters required patient demographics and clinical information into Practice Management and EHR. Scan patients drivers license and insurance card(s) front and back into Ntierprise. Ensure that all required referrals are obtained, scanned into the EMR and linked to that days appointment within Practice Management. Reconcile payment batches at the end of every day and turn into Site Manager. Schedule follow up procedures and coordinate any local ASC cases. Assist patients with the completion of the Phreesia registration system. Medical Assistant Clinical Responsibilities Prepares exam rooms in the clinical area for patient care daily, including stocking of all necessary supplies. Escorts patients to exam rooms, taking the required vital signs and obtaining urine specimens; performing dip and automated urinalysis and microscopic preparation and review when indicated. Assists physician with the preparation/administration of Lupron, BCG, Eligard, Vantas, Viadur, and Mitomycin; assist/perform with office based procedures (bladder scan, urethral dilations, catheterization) as requested. Triage patient calls for pharmacy requests, test results, medical questions and concerns as directed by the physician; documenting outcomes in EHR. Assists in maintenance of all logs and records for OSHA/MOSHA. Adheres to and follows sterilization and disinfection practices throughout the facility. Adheres to bio-hazardous or red bag waste policy and procedure for proper disposal of biomedical waste. As part of your positions requirements, you are expected to travel to other sites within a reasonable geographic region Perform other office duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of three years clinical experience and one year of front office experience. Proficient knowledge of Medical Terminology; ICD-10 and CPT-4 Codes.
