Position Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Location: 800 Brightseat Road, Landover, MD (Temporary site during New Carrollton renovation). Requires travel throughout Prince George's County in a Library Vehicle.
Hours: Full Time (40 hours/week), Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm.
Salary: $17.30 per hour and a generous benefits package including paid time off, health and retirement. Earn additional pay for fluent foreign language skills.

Examples of Duties: Inspects, maintains, makes adjustments and repairs to heating and air-conditioning equipment; replaces filters; cleans boilers and condensers. Makes routine plumbing and electrical repairs. Works with outside contractors in the overhaul and repair of boilers, air-conditioners, elevators, plumbing and electrical systems. Makes concrete, plaster, carpentry, tile and masonry repairs. Repairs furniture, mechanical devices and cleaning equipment. Checks for and reports violations of fire, safety and security regulations in Library buildings. Assists in the cleaning, snow removal and maintenance of sidewalks, parking lots and driveways. Installs, moves and removes Library furnishings. Drives vehicles; makes pickups and deliveries. Works shifts to cover schedules and after-hours emergencies. Performs other duties or responsibilities that are related to the position.
Qualifications/Requirements: High school diploma, vocational training or equivalent and four years of building maintenance experience in a commercial building, including the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Refrigerant Technician Universal Certification required. Considerable knowledge of general building upkeep, construction and repairs, including plumbing and electrical systems. Experience in the installation, assembly and repair of fixtures and auxiliary equipment. Skill in the use of tools of the trade; knowledge of safety precautions associated with power tools and the ability to practice and enforce safety rules in the pursuit of work. Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings and electrical schematics. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; skill in dealing tactfully and courteously with diverse individuals. Work involves climbing, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping; the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently to move objects; exposure to inside and outside environmental conditions and hazards; and working on aerial platforms up to 40 feet.
Necessary Special Requirement: Ability to secure universal certification as an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Refrigerant Technician within six-months following appointment; Class C driver's license in good standing.
