BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – IP, Life Sciences, Technology Transactions

LOCATION: Washington, D.C. (metro-accessible)

REPORTING TO: Business Development Manager, San Diego

Am Law 50 law firm seeks an experienced Business Development Manager to support the D.C. office’s IP, Life Sciences, and Technology Transactions practices through strategic initiatives, client events, marketing materials, web, and interactive channels.  The BDM will assist with the implementation of marketing and business development plans; research and identify opportunities for promoting, cross-selling, and furthering existing client relationships; expand the Firm’s client base; and increase both external and internal visibility.

The BDM will be the point person for organizations and vendors to maximize sponsorship benefits and engagements and will be responsible for:

>Preparing customized pitches / RFPs + other marketing collateral

>Planning events and marketing campaigns

>Working closely with cross-functional teams to promote brand, social media, and public relations

>Meticulously maintaining updated marketing materials

>Managing several blogs, working closely with editorial teams of lawyers

>Ensuring thorough execution of all deliverables, with data / content consistently accurate and well presented

>Collaborating effectively with colleagues and attorneys throughout the Firm’s global network (including Europe and Asia)

>Guaranteeing client service and satisfaction

The ideal candidate will have:

>B.A. or B.S. degree in a related field (required); J.D. a plus

>At least five years of relevant experience in professional services marketing; law firm experience strongly preferred

>Global mindset is imperative

>Working knowledge of IP, patent, and litigation practices desired (direct work experience a plus)

>Impeccable project management skills

>Superior communication skills (written and oral)

>Strong knowledge of core marketing principles, including: branding, competitive intelligence, market research, and pitch / RFP responses

***Some anticipated travel to other offices
