Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.

 1. Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering.

 2. Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.

 3. Reviews completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management and/or clients.

 4. Plans and directs upgrades of operating systems and designs systems enhancements.

 5. Develops documentation on new or existing systems.

 6. Develops and directs tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.

 7. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.

 8. Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

 9. Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

 10. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers and may have supervisory responsibilities.

 11. Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.

 12. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

 13. Participates in special projects as required.

 

General Summary

Unified Communications Collaborated Development is responsible for the design and development of voice, video and/or data communication networks. Will work with Unified Communications Engineering resources to ensure proper delivery of functional systems and additionally assist in troubleshooting Unified Communications voice/video system clusters and endpoints. Quickly respond to customer issues regarding application/hardware related issues, resolve on the spot problems. Able to replicate issues for internal analysis/diagnosis, and prepare/proofread technical documentation accurately depicting the problem and/or solution for feedback to developer/vendor and program.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    Analyzes voice, video and/or data communications networks including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading systems and protocol suitesExtensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Visio and other office suitesDesign, develop and execute Cisco collaborated endpoint technologies to include
        Cisco EX, DX, SX, MX seriesIP Television solutions/vBrick REVCisco Telepresence SolutionsCisco Unified Communications Call Manager (CUCM) version 10.xCisco Unity ConnectionCisco Unified Communications Manager IM and PresenceCollaborated Meeting Rooms
    Plans system updates and schedules outages. Configures systems and user environmentsProvides direction in the development of continued technologies, ECP's and tasking related to Unified Communications and other User Facing ServicesIdentifies, analyzes and resolves system problemsPerform network and system administration dutiesMaintains current working knowledge of relevant system technologiesParticipates in special projects as requiredProvides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineersDevelop procedures and documentation for managing, deploying and implementing multiple baseline hardware/images and system updates
 

Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

Qualifications 8-10 years of related systems engineering experience.

 

    Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in Unified Communications and system designAdvanced Knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications operating systems, Cisco Video solutions, VCS, TMS and Virtual Telepresence ServerKnowledge of Cisco Unified Communications systems conferencing solutions, understanding of licensing agreements for voice and video technologiesMay require professional certification in one or more specific technologies, depending on job assignment.Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and a forward thinking approach is a must
