Manager, Cyber Threat Intelligence
PenFed is looking to hire a Manager, Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) in our Chantilly, VA location. The manager leads a comprehensive threat intelligence program conducting in-depth research, documentation, and intelligence analysis of cyber threats (such as cyber criminals, nation states, hacktivists, and others). The purpose of CTI is to develop a comprehensive picture of the global threat environment and protect PenFed from threats that could impact brand, reputation, fraud, mobile, social media, internal lines of business and members.
The Manager, CTI reports directly to the SVP, IT Security / Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and provides tactical and strategic vision, hands-on direction, oversight, and leadership for CTI activity. Responsibilities include working with technology partners, both internal and external, to reduce risk to PenFed, providing timely situational awareness, conducting analysis of threats, and translating indicators of threat into actionable intelligence and information to reduce impacts to the organization.Essential Functions Manage day-to-day operational aspects of CTI Analysis Team; provide leadership and manages the Strategic, Tactical, and Anti-Fraud functions. Establishes strategic vision, leadership, and facilitates the development of a world-class cyber threat intelligence team . Oversee the tactical and strategic roles in cultivating intelligence sources, analyzing information, creating intelligence products, and hunting for cyber exposures or related incidents. Manage cyber threat analysts researching current and emerging threats, campaign assessment, data collection and analysis; collecting, assessing, and cataloging threat indicators and responsibility for adding context to threat indicators to convey urgency, severity, and credibility. Maintain working knowledge of the broad cyber threat and geopolitical landscape; help drive strategic and tactical priorities globally across the organization. Collaborate with PenFed business units to analyze risks and support mitigation. Present findings to PenFed leaders, internal business units, and other relevant operational units as needed. Escalate issues to management in a timely manner with appropriate information regarding risk and impact. Exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Participate in technical discussions to facilitate the identification, mitigation and containment of cyber-security incidents. Education and Experience Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
Bachelor’s degree preferred or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions
5+ years managing a team of intelligence / technology professionals
Ability to coach, mentor, and train analyst staff in CTI analytic methods, including writing, research, communications, critical thinking, etc.
Experience working in an security / intelligence operations or fusion center
Experience conducting investigations and analysis of incidents
Understanding of the Intelligence Lifecycle
Familiarity with cyber threat landscape, geopolitical issues that could have cyber impacts, security vulnerabilities, exploits, malware, digital forensics, network security vulnerabilities, exploits and attacks.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Ability to communicate with executives and stakeholders in non-technical terms while accurately encompassing risk, impact, likelihood, containment, remediation activities, and threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
This position will supervise employees.
