Summary

PenFed is looking to hire a DevOps Engineer in our McLean, VA location.  The primary purpose of this job is to provide strategic direction and implementation of DevOps practices for CICD pipeline and IT operations practices, scaling and metrics, as well as running day-to-day operations from development to production for our Technology group located in our Tyson’s office located in McLean, VA.

    Must be able to be well versed in all aspects of overall delivery Analyze, plan and execute tactically and strategically, and understand the importance of culture Able to manage upwards with senior leaders and with enterprise counterparts Product / Service Advocate for our DevOps services, which includes planning onboarding Design our Service Delivery model:  SLAs, work management, prioritization, automation, systems management Perform the skills to support infra / VM / Container / provision needs of our DevOps program Strategically evolves our DevOps team into a full-stack Platform / Cloud Services team Implement solutions to drive DevOps transformation, recommend options and roadmaps Establish and employ Continuous Integration practices Develop and implement Continuous Delivery practices & patterns Automate, lean out, standardize and optimize our software build and deploy processes Mentor clients and team members on automation build and deployment best practices and tools.  Create standard operating procedures and practices Develop and execute client onboarding strategies to new technologies and processes Support client build and deployment activities through the DevOps transformation Review entire environment to: reduce failures, improve overall performance, & expand monitoring Work with engineering teams to ensure systems scale and reliability. Engineer deployment and configuration management solutions.  Coordinate and troubleshoot issues across the entire stack hardware, software, application and network. Responsible for the design and implementation of app build, deploy, test, release, and configuration activities. Manage DevOps systems:  Git / GitHub, Object Repositories, Build Tools, Test Tools, Deploy Tool
 

Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required. 5+ years of work experience in a corporate development environment – Systems Admin or Development – is required. 5+ years of technical experience in development, operations or full-stack implementations is required. 3+ years’ experience with DevOps tools and process: Git, TFS, Artifactory, Nexus AWS or Azure IIS, WebSphere, JBOSS, Tomcat Jenkins, Maven, Ant, Docker or similar build management tools Puppet, Ansible, Chef, SALT, VMWare Mainframe and zOS delivery experience a plus Selenium, Cucumber
3+ years’ experience with various development & scripting languages: Java, .Net, PHP, Python, Gradle, PERL, Bash Must be highly skilled on command line for both Linux and Windows Network experience a +, Security experience a +, Understanding of banking Risk / Audit a + Experience in a fast-paced, agile environment Excellent oral communication and effective presentation skills Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
