This will be working 2 pm to 10 pm shift work.

Analyzes, administers, and maintains telecommunications systems.

Daily Job Responsibilities (includes but are not limited to):

* Executes daily service orders as required.

* Hardware installs, performs routine maintenance, analyzes defects, tests, adjusts, repairs and maintains complex equipment such as: switching systems, circuit equipment, network terminal equipment and/ or data equipment by using electrical measuring devices.

* Removes or replaces connections on wire distribution frames, and wire-wraps wires to terminal lugs, following work orders and specifications, including testing.

* Performs turn-up, acceptance, installation and provisioning of DSO, DS1 and DS3 (or higher level) transmission equipment in the Designed Services environment, including testing, repair and troubleshooting.

* Monitoring and reporting issues with AC/DC Power, rectifiers, batteries and inverters, as well as HVAC facilities within the Telephone Switch Room.

* Generates various weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as requested.

* Works around high voltage batteries, rectifiers, and generators

* Requires working varying hours including possible mandatory overtime, weekends and holidays, evenings, pager duty, works between various office locations.

* Follow all company as well as U.S. Government/DOE policies and procedures

* Participates in special projects as required

Bachelors Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience.

8-10 years of related telecommunications experience.

* Strong working knowledge of telecommunications industry and in-depth knowledge of voice and data communications infrastructure.

* At least 5 years working knowledge of Nortel SL-100 and/or Avaya CS2100 switching platform(s).

* Extensive knowledge of line, trunk, routing, digit analysis and complex translations.

* Must possess Nortel SL-100 and/or Avaya CS2100 system certifications. *

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

* Must have prior experience supporting a U.S. Government customer

* Must be able to work in a high-demand, fast-paced environment

* Must be able to work as a member of a team to accomplish tasks and resolve technical issues

* Experience with voice and data cabling circuits/standards such as: analog, digital, POTS, PRI, BRI, CAT-3, CAT-5, CAT-6, and Fiber Optics.

* Must be familiar with various types of telecommunications tools including: wire wrapping tools, punch tools, tone generators, voltage meters, soldering irons, test sets, T-Berd testers, fluke meters, etc.

* Experience and/or training with data network communication, including VoIP, is a plus.

* Must be able to work on a ladder as required

* Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy security clearance.
