RESEARCH ANALYST

LOCATION: Flexible

Am Law 50 law firm seeks Research Analyst to join their Research Services Department, based in any of their U.S. offices.

The Research Analyst will work as part of a firm-wide team to provide substantive research expertise for client work / business development efforts and ensure superior customer service as well as overall client satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

>Providing substantive research expertise to support the Firm’s practice areas / business development efforts, including strategic research related to markets, industries, and competitors

>Creating current awareness tools, newsletters, and alerts to continuously monitor clients, industries, and events

>Utilizing strong written communication as well as the ability to distill and present research work product in a concise and professional manner

>Proactively and independently assessing research requests, ensuring that work product meets stated and anticipated needs

>Ensuring that library services are effectively promoted to attorneys and timekeepers

>Educating and advising attorneys, paralegals, and staff regarding research sources and strategies

>Assisting in collection development / maintenance as well as library space utilization

>Participating in projects that increase the value of library services to the Firm

>Developing project management skills with the possibility of leading certain projects

>Tracking and recording billable and non-billable time spent providing research services to library clients according to the Firm’s library billing policy; closing timenotes on a daily basis

REQUIREMENTS:

>M.A. in Library Science or Information Science or equivalent degree (J.D. or M.B.A.) strongly preferred

>At least three years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience); substantive Intellectual Property and / or Corporate research experience strongly preferred

>Substantive knowledge of legal materials / databases used to support the Firm’s practice areas and research needs
