Job Title: FOSTER FAMILY COORDINATOR Closing Date/Time: Thu. 08/24/17 11:59 PM Eastern Time Salary: $62,358.40 - $95,284.80 Annually
Job Type: Full-Time Location: 2100 Washington Blvd., Arlington, VA (Sequoia Plaza) *ART Bus Accessible*, Virginia       We are hiring a clinician who is experienced in child welfare services to provide leadership to the Foster Care/Adoption program as a Foster Family Coordinator. The program provides placement and support services to children receiving foster care and/or adoption services. The employee will coordinate the program's development of foster families to include conducting and reviewing mutual family assessments and supervising the Family Developmental Specialist. The ideal candidate will be experienced providing training and managing multiple systems within the child welfare system.Duties include:
  • Manages the development and retention of a pool of certified foster/adoptive families to provide emergency, ongoing, and respite care for children;
  • Coordinates pre-service and in-service training for prospective and current foster families;
  • Conducts mutual family assessments for prospective families;
  • Provides post-placement support to foster families and develops plans to increase skills of current foster families;
  • Ensures prospective and approved foster parents and families are provided support, training, and supervision to provide quality foster care services to children;
  • Tracks foster parent records, training hours, and other required licensure documents in accordance with Virginia Department of Social Services policies and procedures; and
  • Manages and ensures accountability for the program's respite grant.

 Selection Criteria: Minimums: Master's Degree in Human Services or a related field including Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other directly related clinical discipline, all of which required a clinical practicum prior to graduation plus considerable of post-Master's Degree experience providing professional human services clinician work, which included the application of diagnostic, treatment, and case management services, including at least one year providing services in child welfare services (foster care, adoption, child protective services and/or family service.)
 Substitution: Directly related higher level clinical degrees may substitute for the Master's Degree education requirement and one year of experience.

Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
  • Managing grants;
  • Administering a child welfare services program; and/or
  • Licensed or license eligible (transferrable) in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

 Special Requirements: A pre-hire background check will be made on all candidates who are selected for employment. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.

Applicant must possess, or obtain by time of appointment, a valid motor vehicle operator's license from the applicant's place of residence. The applicant must authorize Arlington County to obtain, or the applicant must provide a copy of the applicant's official state/district driving record. An offer of employment may be contingent upon a favorable review of the applicant's driving record.
 Additional Information: Work Hours: 8;30 - 5:00 with flexibility dependent upon the needs of the program. Hours are flexible with evening and weekend work. The employee must be available on a rotating schedule to the on-call Child Protective Services social worker in the event that a foster home placement is needed.
