Job Description

The Division of Operations, Facilities Maintenance, HVAC department is searching for a full-time Senior Maintenance Mechanic to work in the HVAC Shop, Monday thru Friday from 2:30 PM to 11:30 pm, with rotating weekends. This position will perform varied tasks requiring special manual skill and a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the processes involved in heating and venting systems, lighting, basic electrical, plumbing, and basic carpentry.

The primary function of this position is to maintain and repair/replace HVAC equipment including but not limited to piping and pumps, air handling equipment, electrical motors used in HVAC systems, window air conditioners, PTAX and DX systems and to performs maintenance, testing and repairs on electronic, electrical, pneumatic and DDC systems as related to refrigeration and HVAC systems.

This position may provide functional guidance of the work performed by Maintenance Mechanic and the Jr. Maintenance Mechanic positions. This position reports to the Foreman, Engineer Operations.

Performs other work related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED, or equivalent combination of training and experience, is necessary, plus 4 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four years or more of experience with either a) machine troubleshooting and repair including pumps, air handlers, bearings, blowers and related equipment or b) troubleshooting with both high pressure and low pressure refrigeration.
  • Trade school training in HVAC or related field.
  • Familiarity with mobile devices (iPhone/iPad) for daily work assignments, time management, materials purchasing, and reporting.
