Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.

 1. Performs systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering.

2. Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.3. Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of systems enhancements.4. Provides input for documentation on new or existing systems.5. Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.6. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves operating/hardware system problems.7. Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.8. Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.9. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.10. 11. Participates in special projects as assigned.


Installs and maintain Army Force Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2), Blue Force Tracking (BFT), Joint Capability Release (JCR), and/or Joint Battle Command Platform (JBCP) systems in Tactical military vehicles, Non-Tactical Vehicles and unit Tactical Operations Centers.  Work with the TFF units to troubleshoot and resolve problems to ensure quality delivery of tactical Command and Control data to the BFT platform systems, Tactical Operating Center (TOC) kits and local Common Operating Picture (COP).  Provide system administration of all COP viewing tools to support Battle Command Systems. Where problems or anomalies are detected, apply the corrective action using the Field Service Representative (FSR) handbook and Program Management Office (PMO) guidelines. Communicate system problems and deficiencies with senior site engineers to the appropriate system PMO. Coordinated with external agencies such as the BFT Mission Command Support Center (MCSC) for the proper provisioning and configuration of BFT/FFT devices. Perform service restoration and system control maintenance as required. Apply patches and updates to all BFT systems as required from PM FBCB2.  Provide Battle Command in-brief to Task Force Falcon (TFF) rotational forces. Conducts BFT hardware installation and maintenance, troubleshooting datalink communication issues, provisioning/deprovisiong BFT system hard drives, and coordinating with the BFT Mission Command Support Center (MCSC) for BFT device registration and downlink of the BFT SA data feed, and submitting the BFT Field Service Station (FSS) weekly activity report.

Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

Qualifications 2-5 years of related systems engineering experience.

Experience installing BFT / JCR / JBC-P hardware such as cabling, mounting brackets, antennae and FBCB2 computing devices in both tactical and non-tactical vehicles in an austere environment over a wide geographic area. Experience installing, removing, troubleshooting, tracking and updating system hardware and software. Experience installing and troubleshooting 12/24 volt power systems with tactical and non-tactical vehicles.

Experience configuring and maintaining C2 systems such as GCCS-J Common Operating Pictures (COP), GCCS-A COP, and/or Command Post of the Future (CPOF) a plus. Experience with UNIX Solaris 8/10 and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux a plus.
- Candidate must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements on day one.
- Candidate must obtain ITIL Foundation certification within 90 days of hire.
- Candidate must obtain one or more of the following certifications within 6 months of hire: SCSA, RHCSA, MCSE, MCP, VMware VCP5-DCV.
