Responsibilities: The chief objective of the Intramural Coordinator is to supervise wage employees and provide administrative support to the Intramural Office. This staff member will ultimately improve the quality of service and efficiency of the Intramural and Recreational Sports Department. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports. Additional duties include:
Administration and Planning: * Provide administrative coverage for the Intramural and Recreational Sports Office; * Schedule Intramural and Recreational Sports events; * Approve referee and supervisor timesheets in the Ellucian Banner system; * Maintain accurate records of equipment rental and special event fees associated with intramural sports; * Ensure all accident, ejection, and staff documents are completed properly; * Resolve any issues of player eligibility, unsportsmanlike conduct, or appeals that may arise; and * Provide daily event reports to the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports.
Event Management: * Supervise, schedule and train the Intramural and Recreational Sports staff; * Coach referees and supervisors during game situations; and * Supervise Competitive Sports activities.
Staff Training/Evaluation: * Responsible for assisting the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports with all aspects of program development, promotion, scheduling and evaluation; * Attend orientations and other promotional opportunities on campus; and * Assist with Competitive Sports assessment of programs, services and staff.
Camp Administration/Recreation Camps: * Serve in a leadership capacity with the Mason Recreation camp program; * Assist the program Director in the development and administration of camp policies, procedures and camp programmatic details; * Assist in the hiring and training of camp staff; and * Will participate in the operational weeks of camps.
Computer/Information Systems: * Maintain up-to-date computer/information technology security; * Keep abreast of the latest upgrades in computer hardware and software through university sponsored programs; * Maintain current spreadsheets and databases; and * Assist in the maintenance of the Intramural website and marketing.
Continued Education: * Attend training clinics and conferences to maintain current knowledge of intramural rules and risk management policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications: * Bachelorâ€™s degree in in recreation, physical education, sports management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Demonstrated experience in a university/college recreational sports setting; * Computer software experience with intramural scheduling; * Sports officiating training; * Extensive knowledge of intramural rules and policies; * Ability to relate well to diverse individuals and demonstrate the ability to calmly defuse intense game situations; * Ability to train, supervise, and motivate Intramural staff; and * Capable of lifting moderate loads and performing equipment setups for various recreational activities.
Preferred Qualifications: * Demonstrated experience in a university/college recreational sports setting; * American Red Cross AED/CPR and First Aid certification; and * Experience with Microsoft Office Business.
