Assistant Director, MBA Programs - McDonough School of Business

Located at the intersection of business, government, and international relations, Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business develops principled leaders committed to serving both business and society. Through our global perspective, we prepare students to compete in today's international business environment.

The Assistant Director has responsibility for assisting in the effective delivery of an exceptional MBA experience for approximately 950+ Full-time and Evening MBA students - to include activities and responsibilities relating to both the academic and co-curricular components of the MBA program. Reporting to the Director of Academic Affairs, the Assistant Director has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as academic advisors for multiple cohorts of students in each class of either the Full-time or Evening MBA Program (overall 140 - 210 students, depending on which program and cohort they are currently advising), to include regular communication with students regarding curriculum planning, degree progress, and academic difficulties (if any). 
  • Serves as needed as general liaison with other university offices (for example, University Registrar, Academic Resource Center, Counseling and Psychiatric Service, Office of Global Studies) to support students with any other academic or personal issues. 
  • Works as part of a team of 7 program office professionals who together oversee and promote excellence in all aspects of the MBA student experience - to include management of both the academic experience (for example, the course bidding process, registration, graduation audit) and the co-curricular experience (for example, student government and clubs, celebratory events, graduation). 
  • As assigned, takes primary responsibility for a particular set of activities in order to become expert in the details, ultimately supporting a cross-functional team in which any one member can contribute (and, when necessary, take over) the specialized responsibilities of any other member.    
  • Manages primary oversight of MBA bidding system, coordinating and communication of registration process, and related academic and curricular support. 


  • Bachelor's degree - Master's degree preferred
  • 2 to 3 years in a student services and/or higher education environment, which may be substituted for  experience in a comparable MBA program - experience in a University setting highly preferred
  • Self-starting, extremely organized multi-tasker
  • Ability to work in a high pressured environment and under tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
