Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.

 1. Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering.

 2. Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.

 3. Plans upgrades of operating systems and designs systems enhancements.

 4. Develops documentation on new or existing systems.

 5. Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.

 6. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.

 7. Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

 8. Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

 9. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers and may have supervisory responsibility.

 10. May serve as a technical team or task lead.

 11. Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.

 12. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

 13. Participates in special projects as required.

Education 1. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.

 2. Masters Degree preferred.

Qualifications 10-15 years of related systems engineering experience.

 

Coordinate and provide leadership in the GDIT Team's efforts in continuity planning; ensure the use of Enterprise-wide Mission Assurance (MA) processes and procedures; lead, staff, support and develop plans to continue and recover from disruptive events; and reconstitute all function to normal operations; lead GDIT Team’s MIssion Assurance/Continuity of Operations (MA/COOP) response to all events, tests, and exercises; fuction as owner of the MA Plan and be responsible for all updates and changes to the plan; conduct lessons learned meeting(s) following exercises and events to determine how we can improve the plan. Specifically:

 

  1. Conduct Business Impact Analysis Planning, including meeting preparation, facilitation at workshops and interviews, action item documentation, and concept socialization
  2. Perform Mission Assurance Assessments to include:
    • Populate and analyze data in the LDRPS (mission assurance assessment tools)
    • Assess risk and develop Corrective Action Plans
    • Create and brief senior leadership on long-term planning strategy to include planning, prioritization, testing, training, and exercise events.
    • Perform ad hoc activities based on mission changes and world events
  3. Communicate with mission essential government personnel and contractors to elicit information regarding critical service, promulgate mission assurance plans, and support risk management decisions by responsible authorities.
  4. Subsequent to contract award, develop checklists and SOPs as appendices to the Mission Assuance Plan in coordination with the Government and partnering contractors.
  5. Upon COOP event or exercise declaration; implement event communications according to checklists and SOPs that were developed for a broad range of scenarios.
  6. Participate in monthly Enterprise Risk Management meeting; provide impact analyses as appropriate
  7. Develop COOP after-action plan; brief recommendations to the Government Program Management Office.
  8. Perform periodic training events, exercises, and drills per Mission Assurance Plan
    • Provide periodic training to all our staff, including our essential personnel prior to any Government-sponsored COOP event or execerise.

    • Direct at least an annual refresher internal exercise or drill to maintain preparedness and training based on updates to COOP/Mission Assurance plan.
  9. Conduct a lessons learned after exercises and note areas for improvement to the staff.
  10. Conduct training to measure that the improvement produces the desired result based on the Business Impact Analysis.
  11. Submit periodic updates to Mission Assurance Plan for Government Approval.
