Tour of Duty: Monday - Saturday (6:00 P.M. - 2:30 A.M.)

This position is located in the Superintendent, House Office Buildings (HOB), Client Services Division, Labor and Custodial Branch and serves as a Laborer (Recycler) Supervisor. The selectee is responsible for assigning, directing, and reviewing the work performed in subordinate organizations on assigned shift.
Major Supervisory Duties:
Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods and policies set by higher level management. Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects. Redirects individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work and/or equipment failure, etc. Informs the Laborer (Recycler) General Supervisor or the Night Superintendent of the need to revise work schedules and re-estimates labor and other resources. Participates in the initial planning or current and future work schedules, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.
Assigns work and provides technical direction and/or assistance in accomplishing the work. Observes work in progress, investigates work related problems and determines causes. Implements corrective actions to resolve work problems. Resolves staffing and work operations problems. Establishes or revises standard operating procedures for the work operation.
Plans and establishes overall leave schedules. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment. Counsels employees on performance, sets performance standards, and makes formal appraisals of subordinates' work performance. Interviews candidates for vacancies and recommends employees for promotions or reassignments. Initiates proposals for formal disciplinary action as needed.
Implements, coordinates and acts as the technical representative in contracts regarding the HOB recycling and environmental sustainability initiatives to increase waste diversion rates. Works with the HOB Sustainability Team and staff regarding resources on all aspects of recycling and waste management.
Provides leadership to ensure support for equal employment opportunity (EEO) goals and requirements. Provides or receives training, either on the job or through classroom training to ensure that all direct reports know how to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Checks to verify that subordinates are using all required PPE.
