Biosafety Specialist

Key Role:

Work with a team of biosafety and biosecurity professionals supporting the client's cooperative biological engagement program in the Washington, DC National Capital Region. Provide technical capabilities to assess safety and security of biomedical research and diagnostics infrastructure, related technology, and research activities. Perform assessments of existing containment laboratories and scientific and public health programs in foreign countries. Assemble detailed written reports of biosafety programs, including recommendations. Offer analyses of alternatives and review design plans for the construction of containment laboratories. This position requires overseas travel up to 30% of the time.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with standard office computer systems

-Experience with working in a biological laboratory

-Experience with biosafety

-Knowledge of US and international biosafety guidelines and regulations

-Ability to work on a team

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree in Biological Sciences

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with international work and consulting environments

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-MA or MS degree in Biological Science or a related discipline
