Motley Fool Australia is looking for a Director of Marketing to oversee the company's online direct response marketing initiatives, including member acquisition, retention and external marketing efforts.

The Director of Marketing will be responsible for developing, leading, and executing acquisition campaigns and lifetime value expansion campaigns from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and senior-level experience with: direct response marketing, marketing strategy development and execution, pricing strategy, market research and competitive landscape, developing marketing creative, cross-channel campaign management, reporting and analytics, segmentation, and project management.

As a part of the Motley Fool Australia leadership team, you will be expected to use your business acumen, marketing expertise, refined analytical skills, and ability to develop key partner relationships to drive the business forward. The position requires an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to identify opportunities and deliver results. The successful candidate will collaborate with technical, creative, and strategy groups to create best in class experiences.

If you understand the online direct response space, have a deep knowledge of consumer psychology as it relates to marketing and motivating customer behavior, have demonstrated experience of being responsible for multi-million dollar business lines, and are ideas- and results-orientated, this could be the position for you.

This role is based in Australia and candidates must currently reside in-country or currently have the proper visa to work in Australia.


Strategise, develop, plan, and execute all marketing activities across acquisition, retention, and winback efforts across all products and servicesConceive, develop, and implement innovative marketing strategies to grow and retain subscribersLead all creative development, review, approval, and execution within tight timelinesCollaborate closely with stakeholders including copywriters, sales, editorial, customer service and tech teams to deploy marketing effortsExecute tests and measure and analyse campaign results to continuously improve the customer experience and drive salesBe responsible for annual budget and quarterly reforecast targets, as well as annual marketing spend budget for all marketing effortsBuild and maintain working relationships with publishers, advertisers, strategic partners, list brokers, and other vendorsManage and develop a team of marketersWork with leadership team to bring new solutions to market


Senior-level experience in planning, building, executing, tracking, and analysing complex marketing campaigns; proven track record of launching and executing end-to-end marketing projects, including planning, segmentation, creative development, budget management, measurement and optimisationDeep knowledge of and passion for direct response marketing, with demonstrated experience in multi-channel marketing delivery and communicationsExperience with media buying and effectively managing spend toward meaningful ROIAbility to discern great marketing copy from the mediocreStrong interest and knowledge of financial markets, asset management, and investment products and vehicles.Ability to think strategically while also able to “roll up your sleeves” and do the hands-on work necessary to meet deadlinesStrong analytical backgroundDemonstrated experience leading and motivating marketers
