Switchboard Operator I
Operates a switchboard or telephone console to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls; greets visitors and directs individuals to appropriate persons in the building. Experience as a telephone operator handling overseas telephone calls, personnel locator service, commercial information services, customer support, conference calls, emergency calls, and maintaining call accounting databases. 1. Operates a switchboard or telephone console to route incoming calls and place outgoing local and long-distance calls. 2. Takes and routes messages to other employees. 3. Greets, identifies and directs visitors, and arranges for escort as appropriate. 4. Maintains visitor records. 5. May provide word-processing, typing, and other clerical support as requested. 6. May pick up and distribute mail. 7. Participates in special projects as required. Education Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Qualifications 0-1 year of related administrative experience.
