Sr Director, Solutions Engineering Group
GDIT's Health and Civilian Solutions Division is searching for a Senior Director to lead the Solutions Engineering Group for the Division. This leader will be responsible for the vision, direction, and effectiveness of HCSD's solutioning capability, the team of solutions architects who support both government contracting and commercial customers who are responsible for architecting and designing innovative and cost effective technical solutions that meet and exceed customer requirements. Providing inspiration, leadership, and management to the solutions engineering team, this leader must build strong relationships with senior management, business development, our centers of excellence and customers to ensure the team serves as technical visionaries who provide cutting edge solutions at a fiscally responsible price. This leader understands that building strong customer solutions is only part of the role of the Solutions Engineering Team. Applying a depth of expertise to a progressively wide scope of situations and experiences, the leader and the team must also effectively communicate the benefits of solutions through persuasive written documentation and stand-up presentations for customers and senior leadership. The leader will work hand-in-hand with the business development team to position HCSD's solutions as the best value at an acceptable price. The leader will ensure the team stays current with their knowledge in a rapidly changing technical world and work to find solutions that introduce innovation and streamline customer processes. Ultimately, the leader will be considered successful when the Solutions Engineering Team is viewed as one of the keys to winning new business and is a must have in important customer meetings and interactions. Education All candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience. A master's degree in computer science/engineering or MBA is highly preferred. Qualifications To be considered for this role, candidates must have 15+ years of increasing experience and responsibility in a government contracting solutions engineering environment. Strong project management experience is required. Experience in a commercial environment is a plus. Candidates must be viewed as technical visionaries and demonstrate their success in innovating solutions for federal government customers. All candidates must have experience motivating and leading a technical team that achieves a high level of performance and partnership with customers, business development, and leadership. Candidates must demonstrate their ability to problem solve in complex, ambiguous situations and build solutions that address a diversity of concerns. Candidates will show how they have been able to gain competence, adopt new perspectives, and build relationships that cross organizational boundaries, and, as a result, build out a web of support and contacts. An ability to build a strategic plan and deliver expected results on budget and on time is important. Ability to prioritize engagement and support in line with the Division’s strategic focus is necessary. Candidates should be prepared to explain their vision for a high functioning solutions engineering team and how to effectively implement that vision and ensure results. Finally, all candidates must demonstrate strong oral and written communications as well as an ability to persuade others to a particular point of view.
