The Accounts Receivable/Collections Specialist is responsible for maintaining and managing customer accounts receivable including application of payments, collection of outstanding balances, and resolution of billing and payment discrepancies. This position is in charge of providing customer service regarding collection issues, and review account adjustments, resolve client discrepancies and short payments. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts- Customer calls, account adjustments, small balance write off, customer reconciliations and processing credit memos. Success is measured by the ability to reduce accounts receivable outstanding balances while maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with internal and external customers


  • Initiate calls and/or correspondence with customers to inquire about and collect outstanding balances, including short-pays and deductions
  • Process payments and account adjustments
  • Prepare and distribute monthly customer statements
  • Provide weekly and monthly updates to management – verbally and in report form – regarding the status of delinquent accounts, collection efforts, and customers on credit hold
  • Maintain adequate and organized records of payment transactions and account adjustments
  • Work effectively with customer service and sales to research and resolve payment and billing discrepancies
  • Develop and maintain procedures and documentation for job-related processes and make recommendations for improvements
  • Identify issues contributing to account delinquency and make recommendations to management
  • Meet defined department goals and activity metrics


  • 3-5 years High Volume corporate Collections experience
  • Knowledge of Billing and Collections procedures
  • Accounts Receivable knowledge/experience a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, goal oriented
  • Experience with automated accounting systems
  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  • High school diploma required; college-level accounting courses, associate degree, or equivalent work experience a plus
  • Experience using computer-based accounting systems and basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required
  • Self-disciplined and capable of completing job duties in a timely manner and with a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
