We are seeking a full-time Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist for our Vascular and Interventional Center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

What you will do:
    The Vascular and Interventional Center is located on the 3rd floor at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. We provide care for Vascular, Neuro, and Interventional procedures for both in-patients and out patients. Our nursing department is open Monday-Friday 6am until 9pm. Our schedule procedures are from 8am until 5pm in the procedure department and 8am until 6pm in the vascular Hybrid OR Monday-Friday. Assist the physician in vascular procedures in both the minimally invasive procedure lab and the hybrid OR. Our departments consist of four single plan vascular interventional labs, one biplane neurovascular lab, and two vascular hybrid ORs. The Cardiovascular tech will have to opportunity to work with the most current release of the Philips Allura R9 system and the newest Siemens Pheno Hybrid OR system. This position requires on-call Monday-Friday nights, weekends, and holidays.

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist is a health care professional that, through the utilization of specialized equipment and under the direction of a qualified physician, assists in the performance of cardiac and vascular procedures. Resulting in an accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart disease while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort. The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist performs/reviews a baseline patient assessment, evaluates patient response to diagnostic or interventional maneuvers and medications during cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures. Provides patient care and drug administration commonly used in the cardiac catheterization laboratory as requested and under the direction of a qualified physician. The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist acts as a first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization.

Required: Related - 1 year

Required: Basic Life Support, Reg Cardio Invasive Spec

Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Required: Communication, Critical Thinking, Service Orientation

A graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing). One year related experience preferred. Reg Cardiac Invasive Spec within 24 months of hire. ACLS required within 90 days of hire.
