The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) provides new populations with the opportunity to achieve their full potential in the United States. ORR’s programs provide people in need with critical resources to assist them in becoming integrated members of American society. These include: social services that help Refugees become self-sufficient as quickly as possible after their arrival in the U.S.; rehabilitative, social and legal services for Survivors of Torture; and the care and placement for Unaccompanied Children who enter the U.S. from other countries without an adult guardian.

In a support capacity to the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) Division of Unaccompanied Children Operations (DUCO):

    Answers hot-line calls and responds to Intakes Email Inbox messages from Border Patrol, Department of Homeland Security, shelter facilities, advocates and others seeking immediate shelter or longer term placement decisions, or information for newly apprehended unaccompanied children;Analyzes complex circumstances of each unaccompanied child including origin, age, gender, family situation, medical issues, behavior, criminal history, etc.;Determine type of placement (shelter, secure or staff secure) based on analysis of child’s circumstances, and availability of bed space that is appropriate for the child’s circumstances;Makes the initial placement determination and informs the appropriate agency;Documents and refers to appropriate person(s);Maintains files and other related records of cases and prepares shift report on any significant issues and number of calls, placements by facility, gender, etc.;Transitions to and briefs next shift staffer on outstanding cases;E-mails intake forms from shift and facilities where children are placed;Responsible for input and verification of data;Reviews source documents for accuracy of input data;May be responsible for integrity of certain database information;Investigates questionable data and takes corrective action when necessary;Performs other administrative duties as needed
Position includes rotating shift work 24/7

Education Associates Degree in a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience.

Qualifications With BA/BS degree, minimum 2 years of experience; with AA/AS degree, minimum 4 years of experience.

Excellent verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills and expert user of MS Excel

Excels in a fast pace, high volume environment
