Job Description:

We are seeking a Program Assistant based in Washington DC. The PA will support education abroad program activities and be a key link between AMIDEAST Headquarters in Washington, DC and U.S. students, home institutions, and our field office staff members. The ideal person for this role will have studied, worked, or has extensive and substantive travel in the Middle East/North Africa (MENA). This position may be of particular interest to individuals who have a broad knowledge of the MENA. Incumbent’s responsibilities will include the following,

Responsibilities:             

  • You will provide training and support to field office staff and conduct pre-departure webinars with students admitted to our semester and summer programs
  • Update Education Abroad’s Terra Dotta application and pre-departure systems and materials for all of our programs and maintaining scholarship databases, monitoring all scholarship requirements, and be the first point of contact for Blog Abroad correspondents
  • Screen student applications against the criteria and process student admissions as well as track application statistics, including comparative data
  • Maintain our master list of campus visits, research study abroad fairs, budget for trips, set up meetings, assess impact of the visits and contribute to the development of a long term marketing strategy
  • Represent us at higher education abroad fairs and in meetings with campus-based education abroad staff and faculty in Arabic and Middle East/North African studies
  • Manage our social media presence, including maintaining the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages as well as our collaborative blog and the semi-annual photo contest
  • Perform other tasks as may be required from time to time

Qualifications: 

  • You have Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience in an education abroad office setting
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel
  • Great research skills, strong attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel in the U.S. for 1-2 weeks a time several times a year as needed
  • Knowledge of Arabic and/or French
