Responsible for the design and development of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks.

 

1. Provides expert level analysis of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.

 2. Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments.

 3. Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.

 4. Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.

 5. May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users.

 6. May perform network administration duties.

 7. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel and may have supervisory responsibilities.

 8. Serves as technical team or task leader.

 9. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

 10. Participates in special projects as required.

 

11. Interfaces with external agencies and network communications providers to engineer, implement, and troubleshoot network cross-connectivity.

 

12. Serves as Principal Voice Engineer for Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Voice over IP (VoIP), and Videoteleconferencing (VTC).

 

13. Oversees security scans and security guidance implementation for networks in accordance with Information Assurance and Security practices.

 

14. Oversees the production and update of technical diagrams and documentation of networks.

 

15. Demands positive responsiveness to customer requirements, priorities and mission accomplishment.

 

16. Strong problem solving skills required.

 

17. Ability to plan, organize, and execute projects.

 

18. Strong customer service skills are a must.

 

19. Must possess and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications 10-15 years of directly related experience in network analysis and design.

 

CCNP certification required. CCIE certification and Voice specialization preferred.

 

Must be able to achieve Security+ CE Certification (or equivalent) within 90 days of hire and ITIL V3 Foundation within six months of hire.

 

Advanced knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network analysis, design, implementation, and troubleshooting.

 

Advanced knowledge of routers, switches, patch panels, concentrators, associated terminals, and related network hardware and software.

 

Advanced knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), VoIP communications, and VTC communications.
