Event Support Technical Coordinator
The George Mason University Event Department, within the Science and Technology Campus Executive Office, is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic person for an Event Support Technical Coordinator. Responsibilities: * Provides professional audiovisual guidance, advisement, and technical and logistical support for all events, meetings, and seminars held on the Science and Technology Campus; * Coordinates event support, which includes, but is not limited to venue room setups, ensuring safety of patrons, enforcing policies and procedures, providing public liaisonship; * Schedules equipment and personnel according to the needs of the customerâ€™s event; * Provides customers with an understanding of the details surrounding our support; * Serves on committees as needed; and * Works as part of a team to collaborate with internal and external partners to support the mission of the university.
Required Qualifications: * Bachelorâ€™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; * Work effectively with a diverse audience, including alumni, donors, faculty, staff, students, dignitaries, and the university community using outstanding interpersonal skills; * Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; * Excellent project management skills; and ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines; * Careful attention to detail with a high level of organized and analytical thinking; * Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; * Detailed knowledge of audio and video applications for events, including but are not limited to sound, lighting, projection and staging; * Ability to work collaboratively as a team player within the Science and Technology Campus Executive Office and as a representative of the university; * Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed; * Ability to supervise part-time staff and college students; * Knowledge of basic accounting principles; * Ability to quickly adapt to other internal software training; and * Have personal integrity along with a commitment to the mission of George Mason University.
Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in events/conference production or a related field, preferably in higher education; or related experience in an association, corporate, or industry-related environment; * Any event technology or rigging licenses is a benefit; and * Knowledge of Ellucian Banner and 25Live scheduling system.
