Position: Finance and Administrative Officer
Reports to: Executive Director
Status: salaried, full-time
Location: Washington, DC

This is a unique opportunity for a finance pro who is passionate about issues facing refugees and the Middle East, to connect Americans with UNRWA USA’s mission.

This position requires immense focus and attention to detail. S/he will be expected to take initiative, while working in a collaborative, fast-paced, creative environment with a small fundraising and communications team.

What you’ll do:

  • Establish, implement, and maintain sound financial management policies and systems that meet industry standards to ensure the organization's financial health and continued success;

  • Work with staff to lead and implement the annual budget process and specific budgeting for campaigns, programs, and events, as well as reporting and forecasting;

  • Build upon our Salesforce instance to develop innovative and efficient workflows and processes to help us effectively achieve our organizational goals;

  • Manage and administer Salesforce, including processing donations, building campaigns, creating reports, generating tax-receipts, and data management;

  • Carry out all day-to-day financial activities, including accounts payables and receivables, Quickbooks management, monthly reconciliations, profit and loss balance sheets, and ensuring compliance with city, state, and federal requirements;

  • Work with outside accountant to prepare and complete year-end audit and tax filings;

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, reviewing and analyzing performance results, disseminating and presenting to senior staff, board and others as required;

  • Manage employee files, and ensure compliance with all city, state, and federal regulations;

  • Carry out monthly payroll, including 401K contributions, health insurance coverage, and annual leave tracking;

  • Answer email, phone and mail inquiries;

  • Manage procurement, maintenance, and inventory of office supplies and equipment, and institutional files and records;

  • Update and maintain office manuals and all human resource documents.

  • You have at least five (5) years work experience in finance and administrative work;

  • You have at least two (2) years of Salesforce administrative experience, Salesforce certification is a plus;

  • You have advanced experience in Quickbooks;

  • You have at least a BA/BS in a field related to finance;

  • You’re known for your can-do spirit, organizational skills, resourcefulness, and consistency;

  • You have an eagerness to learn and work on different tasks as needed;

  • You’re willing and have the ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
