General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Technical Architect is responsible for understanding our customer's business strategy and defining the systems and architecture of key components to support the overall strategy. The role will work closely with client teams and internal colleagues across functional roles to understand requirements and make project decisions in line with those requirements. The Technical Architect will delegate tasks and provide leadership and guidance to the joint development teams.

 

Lead technical discovery sessions with the client to develop a comprehensive understanding of the technical requirements and integrations interfaces for new logistics and HR solutions.

    Develop and document technical solution designs and specifications that satisfy the functional and technical requirements for logistics and HR implementation projects.Assess technical options for each solution component and integrations in an implementation project; evaluate possible technologies and packages; make and defend technology and package recommendations.Decompose technical solution specifications into work packages; document pre-requisites and dependencies for the work packages; and estimate the level of effort and resource level/skill necessary to implement each work package.Develop technical proofs of concept, as necessary, to validate proposed solutions designs, reduce technical risk and minimize level of effort uncertainty.Establish coding and unit test standards, source control repository, build management system and release strategy for the technical delivery team on logistics and HR projects.Accountable for the suitability of the delivered technical solution architecture to address client functional and technical requirements. Champions accountability by example.
 

 

 

Education 1. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.

 2. Masters degree preferred.

 

Qualifications  

15-20 years of related systems engineering experience.

 

    2+ years experience in architecting and implementing successful custom software projects6+ years of relevant IT or industry experience in customer facing roles preferably in the Defense space4+ years experience with Java, J2EE and Spring4+ years experience with Java-based enterprise-strength platforms (Oracle WebLogic, Oracle OBIEE, Oracle Database, Sun Solaris, and Apache)Some knowledge of Windows platforms and the .NET Framework preferred
