The mission of the U.S. Soccer Foundation is to enhance, assist and grow the sport of soccer in the United States, with a special emphasis on underserved communities.

We view soccer as a powerful vehicle for social change. By supporting the development of places to play, places to grow, and places to learn, our goal is to ensure that children in underserved communities have easy and affordable access to quality soccer programs that support their physical and personal development.

Job Summary:    The U.S. Soccer Foundation’s programs are the national model for sports-based youth development in underserved communities. Since its founding in 1994, the Foundation has established programs proven to help children embrace an active and healthy lifestyle while nurturing their personal growth beyond sports. Its cost-effective, high-impact initiatives offer safe environments where kids and communities thrive.

Under the supervision of the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Assistant Director of Programs, the Programs Manager is responsible for coordinating the planning, design, and execution of training and technical assistance activities related to the Foundation’s program initiatives. The position requires attention to detail, initiative, excellent presentation and communication skills, and the ability to function independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, master’s preferred
  • Four or more years of related experience in program management and outreach
  • Knowledge of and experience in planning and executing training and professional development events
  • Knowledge of and experience in sports based youth development programming
  • Knowledge of and experience in age appropriate soccer coaching education
  • Experience working with underserved communities
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments with a wide range of staff
  • Self-starter, exhibiting a strong work ethic, ability to maximize work with minimal supervision
  • Strong oral, written, research, and interpersonal skills
  • Exhibit a positive behavior and attitude, and model a mature and professional demeanor
  • Organized, detail-oriented thinker, with the ability to think critically and analytically
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel 20-30%
  • Spanish and/or other language proficiency a plus
  • Travel, evening, and weekend work is required

    Responsibilities:

Urban Soccer Symposium

  • Manage all aspects of the development and execution of the annual Urban Soccer Symposium, including content, keynote and presenter logistics, outreach and attendance, and strategic growth
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications Department to support all Symposium-related communication efforts
  • Work with the Development Department to support the cultivation of sponsorships

Soccer for Success Training & Technical Assistance

  • Monitor and support the implementation of new and existing Soccer for Success programs
  • Provide programmatic and technical support for Soccer for Success program operators, including resources and tools for administrators and coach-mentors
  • Support the planning and logistics of the Facilitator Summit, National Training, and Local Trainings
  • Support the development of training content updates and revisions
  • Manage the planning and implementation of all pre- and post-training evaluations and site visits, and implement improvements as needed
  • Support the Marketing & Communications Department to develop outreach tools and materials for program partners
  • Support the Development Department in remaining compliant with all grant requirements

    Soccer for Success Curriculum

  • Monitor and enhance the Soccer for Success curriculum components
  • Support the development of various iterations of curriculum in order to support program expansion efforts, including supporting resources, materials, and trainings
  • Develop site specific toolkits/resources including topics on site management, nutrition, family engagement, community engagement, after-school standards, and other resources

    Program Grants

  • Manage the program grants application and review process
  • Manage the program grants execution process
  • Support the evaluation of program grant impact

    General

  • Represent the U.S. Soccer Foundation at conferences, workshops, symposia, and other events
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
