Sentara Medical Group is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join their progressive surgical oncology practice in Newport News. The NP will perform pre/post operative services and surveillance oncology visits for a wide variety of oncology patients including breast, melanoma, gastric, esophageal, ovarian etc. The practice currently includes 2 surgical oncologists and 1 NP.
This is a full time40hr./week position, Monday-Friday with 7am tumor board meetings 2 days per week. No call. Experience preferred but New Grads welcome to apply.
The Advanced Practice Clinician is responsible for the provision of health care services to individuals, families, and/or groups who receive their care under the auspices of the medical group. Health care services include conducting health assessments, prescribing/providing treatments/interventions, promoting health, and providing disease prevention and management. Health care services are provided under the direction and supervision of assigned primary care physician (collaborative agreement). The APC is expected to participate in quality assurance and improvement activities, engage in member of the team activities, and use resources (human and material) appropriately.
Master's Level Degree - Nurse Practitioner

The APC is responsible for maintaining continuing education credits as prescribed by licensing body and The medical group and maintains prescriptive authority; acquires special clinical competencies as required by the group; participates in quality assurance and utilization management activities; and assists with risk management functions.
