Requirements

Associate Director, Donor Relations and Engagement (West Region) - Office of Advancement

The Associate Director, Donor Relations and Engagement (West Region) coordinates and supports the execution of campaign and regional engagement activity and events in the west. S/he works closely with the deployment and regional development teams to ensure engagement activity in the region is strategic, coordinated, and supported; acts as a knowledgeable ambassador, liaison, and engagement specialist to advancement personnel on the priorities, needs, and attributes of the area; and provides cultivation and recognition assistance to individual donors and prospective donors in the region.  Reporting directly to the Director of Donor Relations, the Associate Director has duties that include but are not limited to:

Donor and Prospective Donor Engagement - Strategy

  • Coordinates with the deployment team and development officers to determine regional engagement opportunities.
  • Cultivates knowledge of Georgetown structure and academic initiatives, giving opportunities, campaign, board members, alliances, major prospects and donors in general and in depth in the Western region.
  • Partners with campus leaders (Deans, faculty & senior administrators) to determine appropriate event, set budget, develop invitation list and execute the event.

Donor and Prospective Donor Engagement - Engagement

  • In consultation with market leaders and unit-based development officers, plans and executes regional events in the West Region as a means to engage university donors. 
  • Manages the guest list, work with hosts, engages Deans and University Principals, coordinates with the communications team as needed, develops the event structure and content (varying in size from a small, intimate dinner to a large, multifaceted event), assists with briefings and bios, manages follow up with attendees, and ensures the contract process runs smoothly, and performs other event-related duties as assigned.

Administrative

  • Handles projects as assigned by the Director.
  • Serves on Office of Advancement and University committees as assigned/necessary

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 to 5 years in the field of higher education development; event planning experience; fundraising knowledge - preference for experience with highest level potential donors and issues
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of software programs, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Professional demeanor, innovative thinker, confidence, good interpersonal skills, highly organized and disciplined, relates easily to a wide range of groups
  • Independent thinker, creative, and not afraid to take initiative
