General Overview:

JSSA is one of Washington metropolitan area's most established and fastest-growing health and social service agencies, with offices in Maryland and Northern Virginia. Our mission is to empower individuals and families to achieve well-being across their lifespan.  Our Accounting department has an immediate opening for a full-time Payroll Accountant to join our team.

Position Qualifications:

The Payroll Accountant is responsible for processing semi-monthly payroll for more than 450 employees, ensuring that employees are paid accurately and timely.  Additionally s/he prepares data for federal tax, state tax and retirement plan(s) and reimburses employees for approved expenses. Payroll Accountant will also have the opportunity to perform other accounting duties, such as posting cash receipts, performing account reconciliations, monitoring accounts receivables. The successful candidate will have the ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines, multi-task and a penchant for customer service.   S/he will be able to handle sensitive and confidential information with sound judgment.   We are embarking on migrating from ADP’s Workforce Now to Ceridian’s Dayforce system and this position will be a key member of JSSA’s implementation team; therefore, ideal candidates will be proficient with Ceridian Dayforce payroll interface with a minimum of 5 years of payroll experience. Working knowledge of Excel is required. H.S. degree required; Bachelor level accounting courses a plus. Certified Payroll Professional strongly preferred.
