The Senior Web Developer will lead all technical aspects of the development of SCORM compliant web-based language eLearning objects. Learning objects will incorporate text, video, and/or audio along with comprehension and assessment activities. The activities comprise authentic text, listening and video material and aim to build the foreign language skills of a large federal government workforce in reading and comprehension, translation, and transcription. The lead developer will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of content curators, developers, instructional designers, graphic designers and multimedia experts to produce activities drawing from political, cultural, historical and current events topics.


Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development of learning objects using a suite of authoring tools (such as Lectora and Captivate) and custom scripts
  • Creating a general structure for modules using the appropriate technology
  • Providing technical consultation in new learning objects development, and enhancements of existing objects
  • Preparing functional specifications from which templates will be developed, then builds, codes, tests, debugs and documents programs
  • Leading the technical design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of learning objects
  • Planing, scheduling and conducting tests, monitoring test results, and taking appropriate corrective action
  • Providing guidance and leadership to less-experienced staff
  • May serve as a technical team or task leader
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
  • Participate in special projects as required
Education Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science or similar degree, a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience.

  • 8-10 years of experience in web and eLearning product development
  • Solid knowledge of SCORM, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and course development software such as Captivate, Articulate Studio/Storyline, Lectora
  • Demonstrable experience in responsive web development and user experience design
  • Full understanding of eLearning and web application development process including analysis, planning, design, coding and testing
  • Expertise in all relevant learning coding environments, languages, tools, and platforms
  • Strong project management skills and ability to estimate development timelines for project tasks, manage simultaneous developments, and meet project deadlines
  • SCORM compliant applications development/Integration experience is a must
  • Experience with version control systems (git and github) a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Foreign language skills a plus
  • US citizenship required.
