Job Description: Oracle DBA Position Description CGI is looking for a Mid Level (3+ years) Oracle DBA with solid performance tuning and v12c experience to join our team in Reston, VA. The position will interact with different teams on various production issues and might require off hours and/or on call support at some time. Your future duties and responsibilities Description 1. Provide physical and logical database support as needed for all the Applications specified by Client. 2. Identify and evaluate design considerations, propose design best practices, perform database code re-views and propose performance changes. 3. Serve as an escalation point for all database issues and technical support escalated by the Level 1 team or Application teams. 4. Own and manage IDs supplied by the applicable vendor software and Client Applications. 5. Lead database issues until resolution. Serve as a liaison between the applicable third party vendor technical support team and Client if a problem case is submitted to the third party vendor. Initiate meetings/WebEx with the necessary teams, including Client teams, and provide regular updates on the issues until resolution. 6. Submit service requests or problem cases to the applicable third party vendors where necessary. Follow through on the service requests and problem cases with the third party vendors until closure. 7. Coordinate with Application teams or other teams to resolve database issues even though the issues are not directly related to the databases. 8. Perform database housekeeping designed to ensure that the databases are functioning optimally and securely. 9. Maintain compliance with Client Standards and Client Rules, including those related to the databases (eg, access management, direct grant, SOX controls, db links, etc.). 10. Perform performance tuning and/or stress testing in the non-production environment for Application re-leases as necessary to ensure database infrastructure is configured optimally. 11. Provide after Business Hours and weekend support in Client's production and contingency environments in accordance with the applicable Application release schedules. In addition, provide on-demand support for the lower environments as requested by Client. As used in this Work Order, "Business Hours" means nine (9) consecutive hours defined by Client on each business day observed by Client. 12. Maintain the databases to meet performance standards, maximize efficiency and minimize outages 13. Develop/maintain knowledge articles related to databases for the Level 1 and Level 2 teams to follow. 14. Proactively provide capacity planning to prevent situations caused by lack of capacity. 15. Provide detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for incidents as requested after the incident resolution within the client defined timeframe. 16. Monitor database usage, transaction volumes, response times, and concurrency levels, and measure and report its performance against the applicable Service Levels. 17. Generate reports based on the data in the databases and reports related to the performance and integrity of the databases. 18. Develop/maintain/enhance database monitoring scripts designed to ensure the stability, security, and performance of the database queries. 19. Review Turn-Over Log (TOL), follow up on the root cause of the incident tickets generated the previous day, and develop a process to remediate recurring incidents. 20. Provide database resiliency in accordance with Client Standards. Develop or maintain Technology Contingency Plan (TCP) for the database and participate in routine or on-demand disaster recovery exercises (DREs). 21. Identify, report and manage data security issues. Provide audit trails and forensics to Client or its designee when necessary. 22. Participate/plan/implement new corporate Client initiatives. 23. Develop and maintain database handbooks. 24. Maintain, update, and implement database archive processes and procedures to meet Client's business requirements. 25. Install database server and client software and provide user support across Client and the other Eligible Recipients. 26. Participate in production issue triage as requested by other support teams or the Enterprise Command Center. Provide periodic updates on production outages and slow response issues as each incident occurs. 27. Troubleshoot the failure of both physical & logical DBA owned Autosys jobs. 28. Perform database shutdowns and restarts, troubleshooting, and database recovery. 29. Generate performance reports (eg, Oracle AWR report, etc.) as required for database troubleshooting. 30. Perform system/parameter changes, reorganizations and update/gather statistics to optimize performance when required. 31. Document all of the required artifacts in the tickets to comply with the Client-approved change/incident/problem management policies. 32. Perform database Upgrades and patching. 33.
