Job Description: Position covers Annapolis, southern Anne Arundel county area Make a Positive Difference Speech-language pathologists at MedStar Health VNA help patients heal in the comfort of their own homes. They develop an individual treatment plan for each patient and then help patients/caregivers achieve improved functional and independence goals. At MedStar Health VNA, SLPs embrace autonomy and make individualized patient-centered decisions to promote optimal clinical care. Job Details: Provides initial and periodic assessments to determine the patient's habilitation/rehabilitation needs. Establishes an effective speech language pathology/dysphasia treatment plan in conjunction with the patient, his/her family/caregivers, the patient's physician and other members of the health care team. Modifies the plan as needed. Provides speech language pathology/dysphasia services. Performs procedures and modalities, such as associative language exercises, oral motor exercises, aural rehab, and thermal stimulation. Assesses patient environment and recommends adaptive equipment and/or home modifications that will maximize the patient's functional abilities and safety. Provides patient and/or caregiver education; trains patient and caregivers in aspects of care required after discharge. Arranges for the provision of specialized assessments and outpatient needs post discharge. Qualifications EDUCATION: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. EXPERIENCE: 1 year clinical experience. LICENSE/CERT/REG: License to practice Speech-Language Pathology in the State of Maryland or Virginia, or Certificate of Competency by ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) if working in the District of Columbia Maryland, or any combination as required based on work location(s). CPR certification required. SKILLS: Good clinical skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred. FeaturedJob0
